Bring your next audio project to life with a dedicated amplifier for each loudspeaker. This Audio Products monoblock combines the PWA01 amplifier module, a substantial PSP01 power supply and smart IRC01C control in one complete project concept.
With project power figures of 225 W into 4 Ω and 130 W into 8 Ω, it is an appealing starting point for DIY enthusiasts who want to build their own high-power amplifier and choose every detail of the finished system.
Your amplifier. Your enclosure. Your next audio project.
A monoblock gives each loudspeaker its own amplifier and power supply. Build a matching pair for stereo and enjoy the freedom to choose your cabinet design, position your amplifiers and organise your system around the way you listen.
The modular approach makes this a rewarding project: combine the amplifier, supply and controller, then create a finished unit that fits your system.
The PWA01 provides the amplifier stage, the PSP01 supplies the DC rails and the IRC01C manages power switching. Together, they give you a clear foundation for planning your build.
We can help you check the parts combination against your loudspeakers and chosen module revision. Tell us about your project and take the next step towards your own monoblock system.
The illustrated amplifier module is mounted on a 5 mm aluminium plate with a heatsink measuring approximately 200 × 150 × 40 mm. Include suitable ventilation and check cooling for your chosen enclosure and loudspeaker load.
The PWA01 brings together a discrete transistor amplifier design with Sanken driver transistors, Toshiba output transistors and Nichicon capacitors.
For builders who enjoy putting together their own audio equipment, this module offers the centrepiece around which to create a dedicated power amplifier. Pair it with the supply, cooling and protection suited to your application.
| Loudspeaker load | Project output power |
|---|---|
| 4 Ω | 225 W |
| 8 Ω | 130 W |
Power figures are quoted for the original project. Achievable output depends on supply voltage, load, cooling and measurement conditions. Check the matching module documentation when planning your build.

The illustrated monoblock pairs the PSP01 power supply with a 625 VA toroidal transformer with 2 × 35 V secondary windings. Its reservoir capacitor bank totals 120,000 µF, with 60,000 µF per supply rail.
This arrangement gives each amplifier channel its own transformer and energy storage. Select the appropriate PSP01 version and check DC rail voltages and amplifier limits together.
Complete your amplifier with the IRC01C controller. Push-button operation, optional audio detection and a 12 V trigger interface let you choose how your amplifier fits into your system.
The controller combines inrush-current limiting with mains EMI filtering. Its published transformer range of 500–1,000 VA includes the 625 VA transformer used in this project.
Tell us which loudspeakers you use, how you want to control your amplifier and what enclosure you have in mind. We can help you select a suitable combination of modules and plan the next steps.
Confirm module revisions, supply voltages, polarity, cooling and loudspeaker protection before powering up. Have mains wiring, insulation, fusing and protective earthing where required checked by a competent person. Disconnect the mains and verify that capacitors have discharged before working on the amplifier; standby does not make the controller safe to touch.
